The rising cost of hospitalization and institutionalization has fostered a growing awareness that home care is often the most cost-effective and humane option for the elderly or ill. ODA’s Human Development Association (HDA) was established in 1979 to provide home attendants and support services to those who need it. With close to 1,000 home care professionals on our staff, we are one of the largest providers of services to the elderly and infirm in the Brooklyn area and beyond.
Our HDA staff includes registered nurses, personnel specialists, home health aides, and personal companions. They work collaboratively to evaluate clients’ needs and make physical, psychological and environmental assessments, in order to develop the most effective plan of care. The staff engages clients’ family members and loved ones, coordinating efforts so that it all runs as smoothly as possible.
Cultural norms are always respected. Because New York is home to diverse ethnic cultures, we make sure that our staff is well trained to understand, respect, and work with each client’s specific cultural needs.
HDA has been an innovative pioneer in home attendant services. Through our services, clients have maintained independence and experience better health and a better quality of life.
